Border Security at Risk in TX House!

Action Alert: Border Security is at risk in the Texas House

UPDATE:

“Thank you for sending out the “call to action” to call the House committees regarding the funding of border security. I got intel back today that hundreds of calls have gone in and the Straus gang is not happy about it. That means our timing is right and that we are over the target. JoAnn”

–JoAnn Fleming, Executive Director, Grassroots America – We the People

Last week, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick called for continued funding for border security.  According to public statements and news accounts, Speaker Joe Straus shrugged off Patrick’s call with a notable lack of enthusiasm.

This is about the safety and security of Texas. The People of Texas elected Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick with a mandate to secure the Texas border and deal with the high cost of illegal aliens and criminal activity related to cartels and transnational gangs running rampant in our State.  Speaker Straus and his followers in the House seem to be trying to overturn last November’s election.  Now, “We the People” must hold them accountable.

Support funding for border security to continue through May by calling today!

  • The Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee meets tomorrow 2/17/15 at 8 am.
  • Ways & Means meets tomorrow at 8:30 am.
  • A subcommittee of Appropriations meets on Thursday at 8 AM.

Click here to download 2015 House Committees Contact Information. The three committees listed above are the committees to call first, but please call every committee member to inform them of your concerns.  They will make decisions on bills that impact border security for EVERY Texan!  (Only GOP are listed – since they all ran as conservatives and all say they support a secure border).

Keep this list handy.  As bills come to the floor of the House, you will need this list again.  It also contains phone numbers for Governor Abbott.  He needs to hear from all of you as well.  Remind him that it is time for Texas to lead on border security and the rule of law!

NOTES FOR CALLS:

  1. Politely tell them that you support continued funding of the Texas National Guard and DPS for border security.
  2. Funding for the Guard and Operation Strong Safety needs to occur through the end of the budget year and be funded in the upcoming new budget.
  3. Thank them and remind them that you will watch how they vote.

Thomas Sowell: Immigration Common Sense

Thomas Sowell, Immigration Gambles

We are importing many foreigners who stay foreign, if not hostile. Blithely turning them into citizens by fiat, rather than because they have committed to the American way of life, is an irreversible decision that can easily turn out to be a dangerous gamble with the future of the whole society.

What happened in Boston shows just one of those dangers.

Thomas Sowell, Immigration Gambles:Part II

Waiting until the border has already been secured before an immigration policy is decided upon would also allow time to discuss the pros and cons of various ways of enforcing whatever that policy might turn out to be. But many politicians much prefer to rush complex legislation through Congress before the public knows what is in it or what is at stake. “We the people” are to be by-passed.

Time to deliberate would also be time to raise questions as to why local government officials in “sanctuary” cities who openly thwart or defy federal immigration laws should be allowed to get away with such illegal acts, while private employers are forced to become enforcers of such laws, under heavy penalties for not investigating the legal status of those they hire.

Government officials at all levels take an oath to uphold the laws, but somebody who owns a restaurant or hardware store has not applied for the job of border enforcement — and the 13th Amendment forbids involuntary servitude. Or are we already too far along on the road to serfdom for that to matter any more?

The debate in Washington on immigration reform has had no political impact, but the debate is having a major impact on south Texas, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Officials say the number of people entering the U.S. illegally is way up and, tragically, the number of undocumented immigrants who have been found dead in the unforgiving Texas Brush Country is way up, and is on path this year to beat last year’s record for the number of people found dead in the ranch country.

Ae We America, the Enabler of Despots and Tyranny or America, the Promoter of Liberty & Freedom? By Robin Lennon

A Commentary by Robin Lennon

The harsh rhetoric is not and never has been about immigration.

It is about breaking and entering into the United States. Too many of those illegally entering our country are dangerous criminals, OTM terrorists, or those who break our laws with fraudulent social security cards. The laws of our land force us to educate, medicate, and too often house and feed them at the expense of hard-working Americans. They stand on the steps of our State Houses demanding education, medical care, insurance, citizenship, and more amenities are not theirs.

Too many progressives complain about the too low, often unlivable wages. What they apparently don’t understand is the downward pressure on wages that is exerted by these unlawful shadow workers. Many take jobs once held by teenagers and minority men, particularly Blacks and Hispanics.

Aiding and abetting illegal immigration is just as ruinous to our Nation as Affirmative Action and the Welfare State has been to us: promoting injustice, racism, and the breakdown of our families, values and culture.

In the final analysis, illegal immigration is a Rule of Law issue.

Do we really want to welcome men and women who break our laws, as well as violent criminals and terrorists into our country? If you think so, invite them into your home, with no background checks. Feed them; pay for their schooling and medical costs yourself. It’s a free country, which means you have no right to make me donate my hard-earned dollars to these people who don’t respect U.S. taxpayers or America enough to emigrate legally. Have you researched how Mexico handles illegal immigrants, voter fraud, and non-citizen protests? Why is it okay for them to protect their country, but not for us?

It’s a shame that we enable Mexico’s leaders to abdicate their duties to control the drug cartels and develop their own economy so proud Mexican citizen’s could live and raise their families in their own county.

The US needs to secure our borders and use political pressure on Mexico to fix their own problems. I believe that people of all colors can enjoy Freedom and Free Markets. They don’t have to sneak in and steal it–they could create it at home if their government was willing.

We are America, the Enabler of Despots and Tyranny. I’d rather be America, the Promoter of Liberty, Freedom, and Opportunity once more.
