SUMMARY:James Dickey\, TX GOP Chair\, Mon.\, 9/18/17\, Los Cucos - KW
DESCRIPTION:WHO:……….James Dickey\, TX GOP Chair\nWHERE:…..Los Cucos – Kingwood\n………………..23730 US-59 North\n………………..Kingwood\, TX  77339\n………………..Scroll down for map.\nWHEN:…….Monday\, Sept. 18\, 2017\nTIME:……….7 PM – 8:30 PM\nRSVP:……….Email Jim at.jim@kingwoodteaparty.com\n………………..Subject: 9/18/17 RSVP – James Dickey \n\nA Major Grassroots Victory\nKingwood TEA Party endorsed James Dickey in his race. He was running in opposition to Rick Figueroa\, Former GOP Chair\, Tom Mechler’s hand-picked replacement. During the campaign\, it quickly became apparent that Tom was feeding Rick inside information about the Party to which SREC members were not even privy. \nAt the RPT Chair Forum at Harris County Republican Party headquarters\, James spoke of countering the Democrats and their Project LIFT candidates as he expected the 2018 races to be even uglier than the May elections we just had. I was VERY happy to be supporting him in his bid for the Chair. \nRick Figueroa didn’t even seem to be aware of the threat\, much less prioritized it. Since his election\, Dickey has been writing letters about the Special Session\, the Republican Platform and his expectations for the passage of many of the Governor’s items also in the Platform. I expect he’ll be even more effective than Steve Munisteri was and am hopeful that his success will regain the trust of Republican donors who had closed their wallets to Mechler. \nHe won his election by 32 – 31. It was tight because James was the Grassroots candidate who had only entered the extremely short campaign period designed by Mechler to prevent our running a good candidate in such a short time. We worked alongside Jessica Colon\, his campaign manager\, Empower Texas\, and Jim Graham of Right to Life to help elect him. We helped fight for every vote and are extremely pleased with the great start James Dickey has made. \nUnbeknownst to anyone except Tom Mechler and his hand-picked candidate\, Rick Figueroa\, the Republican Party was in dire straits when James won the chairmanship. It seems that Tom Mechler had only raised about 1/2 the funds he should have raised in preparation for the 2018 general election at the time of the SREC Chairman election. \nIn his acceptance speech\, Mr. Dickey announced that he had just received a $100\,000 donation. If you are able and would like to help prepare Texas for the 2018 election\, please  contribute to the party here\, or for $8.25/month or $99.00/year you can join the Grassroots Club. \nRPT Chairman James Dickey Statement on SCOTUS Decision in Favor of Religious Liberty\nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE \nMonday\, June 26\, 2017 \n“Today’s Supreme Court ruling in favor of religious liberty is a momentous victory for religious rights in our country. Religious liberties fell under attack during the Obama Administration\, from the Little Sisters of the Poor to Hobby Lobby. Today’s ruling further proves that while our nation believes in the separation of Church and State\, it was also founded based upon the principles of freedom of religion. Here in Texas\, we stand strong for freedom of religion protected by the First Amendment\, and our state legislature upheld these beliefs by passing the Sermon Protection Act (SB 24) in May during the 85th Legislative session. We would like to see the Texas Legislature take up the banner of the First Amendment Defense Act in the upcoming special session\, strengthening the protections that businesses and organizations have to freely profess and adhere to their sincerely-held religious beliefs.” \n### \nNew Texas GOP chair starts tenure with big platform push\, Texas Tribune\, June 27\, 2017. \n\n
